Scout STEAM Labs

Designed especially for Scouts, DCM STEAM Labs spark curiosity, support open-ended making & tinkering, and promote critical thinking. Each 60-minute lab is facilitated on-site at DCM by an experienced educator. Labs available for Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Lion, Tiger, and Webelos. Time to explore the Museum and supplies are included with every program.

 

STEAM Lab Cost:
DCM Members: $25 per Scout* | Non-members: $30 per Scout*
*Each Scout may bring one grown-up, free of charge

Please Note: DCM Members must register individually and sign in (or register) to receive member discount. Sign In/Register is located at the top of the registration screen.

STEAM Lab

Design A Travel Bot

Design and build a tiny, traveling robot made from a simple circuit and upcycled materials. Help your “travel bot” explore an obstacle course and race against other bots.

 

Enhances the following Scout experiences:

Let It Roll

Tinker with your very own vehicle design! Using various materials and different wheel shapes, engage in the engineering design process as you build, test, and iterate to develop a unique car.

Art Explosion

From self-portraits to mosaics to making three-dimensional artwork, join us for an exploration of art and shapes. Be inspired by the natural world to create & make different art projects while learning about various art mediums and styles.

Whooo's For Dinner

Make observations of a unique animal – the owl! Explore the owl’s connection to its habitat by dissecting an owl pellet and analyzing what’s inside.

River Rescue Rangers

Become an engineer on a wild mission of rescue and invention! Design a zipline, float a boat, and race to save stranded animals in this action-packed challenge. Explore how real-world engineers use creativity and critical thinking to solve problems in this open-ended engineering lab.
