Wild Wonders

Saturday, March 19, 2022  |  9 am – 2 pm

Spring has sprung and creativity is ready to bloom! Enjoy nature-inspired sensory activities, art, and more. Flutter, crawl, creep, or fly on over to catch the fun!

Hands-On Activities

  • Get Up Close with Nature: Meet local environmental organizations who all bring their own unique way to get excited about nature.

      • The Racine Zoo: Meet live animals from a special group of the zoo ambassador animals.
      • Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum: Learn about the wildlife that’s all around us in Illinois with some fun activities.
      • Morton Arboretum: Be inspired by trees, shrubs, and other plants from around the world.
      • Rose Pest Solution: Meet one of the largest cockroaches in the world! All the way from Madagascar, these roaches are not pests, but important contributors to their ecosystems.
      • Forest Preserve District of DuPage County: Learn about Freshwater Mussels!
  • Contribute to the Nature Collage: Share your amazing nature discoveries with us! Bring in something you found in nature to add to our community nature collage.
  • Activate Your Senses: Explore clay sensory play. There’s nothing wrong with getting  your hands a little dirty, and there’s no better way to celebrate nature than by getting up close and personal with it!

  • Seed Balls: Take home a special mixture of wildflower seeds that’s just right for our home state of Illinois! Seed balls are a fun way to make your neighborhood look beautiful.

  • Paint a Toad Abode: The little critters that call our yards and parks home need a space to feel safe, warm, and dry. Paint a biodegradable toad abode to put outside.

  • Animal Tails Story Time | 10 am and 1 pm
