Storybook Festival

Saturday, September 26*  |  9 am – 1 pm

Get lost in your own imagination at Storybook Festival! Bookworms of all ages can come dressed as a favorite book character and enjoy this outdoor event full of fun, creativity, and adventure.

  • Design your own puppets and put on a show 
  • Paint on supersized storyboards with mural artist Jason Wattscheck out his awesome art here!
  • Dream up fantastic tales in the Literature Laboratory 
  • Shake, roll, and improvise with Big Story Blocks 
  • Puzzle together pages of a giant storybook 
  • Enjoy socially-distanced story times with the Museum and Naperville Public Library

 

This experience lasts approximately 60 minutes. 

 

Book Drive

Please consider bringing a children’s book to donate to those in need. Our friends at Bernie’s Book Bank will be accepting donations of new or gently used children’s books at the event for birth through 6th grade reading levels. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Bernie’s Book Bank has distributed 800,000+ free, quality books to children affected by COVID-19 – Let’s help them keep going! 

 

Cost:

DCM Members: $8 per person 

Non-Members: $14 per person 

Free for children under the age of 1 year 

 

Important Information:

  • Attendance will be limited. Pre-registered, timed-entry tickets are required for this event;
    there will be no onsite ticket sales.
  • There will be no bathrooms available at the event. The Museum building will be CLOSED. 
  • Masks will be required for everyone 2 years and older. See more guidelines below.

We know it’s difficult to see the Museum and not be able to go inside and play. In response, we’ve created a social story about this upcoming event experience. *In case of inclement weather, the event will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Registrants will be notified of any cancellations via the email used during registration.

Safety Measures & Reminders

Description:

    • Pre-registered, timed-entry tickets are required for this event; there will be no onsite ticket sales
    • Guests age 2 and older must wear a face-covering over their mouth and nose
    • Guests should maintain a social distance of 6 ft. or greater from non-household individuals during their visit
    • Timed-entry group sizes are limited to support social distancing
    • Guests should utilize sanitizer wipe stations and/or hand sanitizer as needed throughout the event
    • There will be no bathrooms available at the event. The Museum building will be CLOSED.
    • Guests are asked to perform a COVID-19 self-assessment prior to entering the event area. If you or a family member are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, please stay home

 

      • Fever or chills
      • Cough
      • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
      • Fatigue
      • Muscle or body aches
      • Headache
      • New loss of taste or smell
      • Sore throat
      • Congestion or runny nose
      • Nausea or vomiting
      • Diarrhea
      • If you have had close contact with anyone diagnosed with or who has symptoms of COVID-19 within the last 14 days.
