Back to School Bonanza

Saturday, August 13, 2022  |  9am – 2pm

Celebrate the start of the school year with hands-on activities that highlight everyone’s favorite subjects from A-Z. Explore your creative side with professional artists and musicians, flex your mind and muscles at recess, and step up onto a school bus! DCM is here to make sure everyone’s back-to-school season is a delight.


Special Activities 

  • Music | Celebrate music with fun tunes, an instrument petting zoo, performances from Bach to Rock Naperville.
    • 9:00–11:30  Bach to Rock Naperville – Instrument Petting Zoo & DJ
    • 11:45–12:15 Come sing and dance with Joe and even learn about rhythm, movement, and melody! Joe Piotrowski is a multi-instrumentalist Singer/Songwriter from Plainfield, IL.
    • 12:30–2:00  Bach to Rock Naperville – Instrument Petting Zoo & DJ


  • Art | Express yourself in The Studio with professional artists and set your intentions for the school year in a creative way.


  • Math & Engineering | Measure, test and tinker with pom pom catapults in The Questioneers classroom.


  • Science | Engage your creative thinking skills and participate in hands-on Stem & DCM Lab activities. 
    • 9:00–11:00  Create a Creature
    • 11:00–2:00  Game Making


  • Reading | Curl up with a good book and enjoy a special story time with Naperville Public Library.
    • 9:00–10:30  Reading Nook
    • 10:30–11:00  Story Time with Naperville Public Library
    • 11:00–2:00  Reading Nook


  • Recess & PE | Take a brain break and play outside. Get active with fun recess games and Family Yoga.
    • 9:00–1:00  Recess Games
    • 1:00–1:30  Family Yoga


  • Tour A School Bus | Naperville 203 (Parking Lot Near Picnic Tables)
    • Tour a school bus and take home tips on bus safety.


  • Bernie’s Book Bank Book Drive
    • Support fellow readers and bring your new or gently used children’s books (aged birth through sixth grade) to donate to Bernie’s Book Bank. Bernie’s Book Bank sources, processes and distributes quality children’s books to increase book ownership among under-served children throughout Chicagoland.
