Explore materials, learn about process, and create some art. Bring your creativity and curiosity to The Studio where every visit is a chance to create something uniquely you. The Studio is a space where your imagination can take you anywhere. The Studio offers open-ended, multi-disciplinary arts and maker activities on a rotating basis.

Transportation Celebration

Create your own cardboard transportation.

Flying Art

Using a variety of light weight materials, try your hand at designing your very own flying machine. Our wind table provides the lift… you provide the imagination!

 

Saturday, August 3 – Friday, August 9
Clay Play

Come play with the wonderful malleability of clay! We have all different kinds of squishy goodness to explore. This is part of the next adventure with our Artist-in-Residence Program. Gina Lee Robbins is a professional artist and educator from the Oak Park area. She will be working with children in The Studio to create a  semi-permanent “tactile mosaic” that will be installed in the Museum.

Model Train

Get an up-close look at a model train. Scouts from Venture Crew 57 will be on-site to show off their impressive model train and answer questions.

 

Monday, August 12 – Friday, August 16
Makerspace

Making is one of the strongest ways to grow and learn. Come practice your problem solving skills and explore your creativity. We can’t wait to see what you make with our remarkable collection of recycled objects!

 

Saturday, August 17 – Wednesday, August 21
Wearable Art

Art is everywhere! You are even wearing it! Come design your very own custom wearable art with our wide array of fabric and bits and bobs.

 

Thursday, August 22 – Sunday, September 1
Weave & Stitch

Using a variety of textiles and found/miscellaneous objects will weave and stitch to combine disparate things into one beautiful piece of art. This is part of the Artist-in-Residence Program. Gina Lee Robbins is a professional artist and educator from the Oak Park area. She will be working with children in The Studio to create a  semi-permanent “tactile mosaic” that will be installed in the Museum.
