Spark imagination through a program that incorporates art, math, and science. Local artist, Laura Lynne, will inspire families to create artwork together by leading a series of projects with the opportunity to add your own unique touch to an awe-inspiring collaborative project.
Young artists will receive a box of unique materials that will send their artwork in new directions. Complete one art project or all 14! Once a project has been completed, submit your creation(s) to inspire the large artwork that will hang in the Museum.
This program uses a combination of engaging pre-recorded videos and optional live, virtual workshops with DCM’s Artist-In-Residence, Laura Lynne and Arts & Maker Specialist, Dustin Thacker.
Activities are designed for ages 4+, but will require some adult assistance. Each box includes enough supplies for one child.

Each video presents a different project that will become part of the larger collaborative artwork and encourages children to think about art in new ways, practice skills, and revel in the process of creation.
The live workshops provide an opportunity to collaborate, share work with each other, discuss ideas and techniques, and share in the joy of art making. Join us on Thursdays, February 18, February 25, and March 4 at 4 pm. These workshops are an optional part of the program.
Laura Lynne is best known for creating boldly colored and whimsically designed mixed media art and murals. Nature with a whimsical twist is one way to describe Laura’s style. For this collaborative art project, she will create a large-scale scene based on the native Illinois prairie with wildflowers, grasses, insects and animals native to our area. The piece will be colorful, with lots of texture using her mixed media paper-cut collage technique. After children and their adults create the pieces for the artwork, she’ll make sure the color scheme and style of the art is unified.
Curbside pick-up happens at DuPage Children’s Museum (301 N Washington, Naperville IL) every Thursday from 9–12 and Friday from 2–5. Please note: Boxes ordered Thursday or Friday will be available for pick up the following week.
